Motorists can now get their hands on the first ever MINI Cooper two-seater convertible with the launch of a new soft-top at ASTLE MINI in Grimsby.

The first of its kind in the small car segment, the MINI Cooper Roadster offers buyers a chance to experience the thrill of a two-seater sports car with the classic British design of the MINI Cooper brand.

The high-spec engine sees the Roadster reach 0 to 62mph in 6.5 seconds! And to add an extra touch to the excitement of a sports car ride, an integrated rear spoiler extends automatically as soon as the car reaches 50mph, dropping back at 37mph.

Paul Wooding, Dealer Principal at Astle in Grimsby, said: “This latest model offers the fun of driving a taut-handling roadster, with all the character of MINI. And being built at Plant Oxford means it can justifiably claim to be a spiritual successor to the traditional British roadsters of old.

“The Roadster is a testament to the classic design of the MINI and includes trademark features such as the much-loved large central circular speedo, the rev counter behind the steering wheel and the toggle switches. The package even includes sports seats fitted as standard, so you can have the low-slung ride to the ground that makes a sports car as must-have accessory.”

Priced from £18,015 on the road, the car will be available to test-drive from the dealership in Grimsby Road, in Laceby, from Saturday 25thFebruary. And ordering it now could mean drivers can have their car in time for the summer months.

The MINI Roadster is the sixth model to join the MINI line-up which also includes the MINI Hatch, Convertible, Countryman and Clubman.

Its footprint closely mirrors that of the MINI Convertible, but its elegant roofline is more than 20mm lower than its four-seater sibling, allowing the Roadster to cut a distinctive, low-slung and visually stretched stance.

Paul added: “The Roadster has a robust all-season fabric roof with semi-automatic operation that folds down flat behind the seats. This is also a very practical sports model as it offers a stowage area behind the driver and passenger seats, generous 240-litre luggage area and through-loading system.

“We are confident there will be a lot of interest in this car. I would encourage people to come down for a test drive and see exactly how good this new MINI is.”
