News release

20th May 2013

A company which specialises in improving the performance of East Midlands businesses has taken on a new recruit to cope with a growing workload.

Carrie Bates has joined the team at Queensgate Management in Lincoln, having moved from office equipment specialists The Danwood Group.

She joins Jeremy Wetherall and Hannah Stockdale at the growing financial management firm, whose turnover has increased significantly in the past 12 months.

“This business is growing much faster than anyone envisaged,” said Jeremy, who set up Queensgate Management three years ago in partnership with chartered accountants Duncan & Toplis.

“We are specialists in working with management teams to improve the performance of their businesses. Financial management issues arise not only in businesses that are struggling but also in ones that are growing.

“Many of our clients have working capital issues caused by a variety of reasons and we introduce systems and controls to help manage this. The majority of our work is introduced by the major high street banks that identify situations where they feel we can assist.

“Essentially we act as a conduit between the banks and our clients and we have been instrumental in significantly improving the performance of a number of businesses.

“The key is that we provide information which allows managers to make better decisions. Businesses need timely accurate management information: often they will wait until their year-end and discover that they’ve had a poor year – and by then it’s too late to do anything about it.”

Before she joined Danwood as an acquisition accountant Carrie Bates worked for accountants PKF for nine years, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2003.

“I’m really pleased to be working at Queensgate Management,” said Carrie. “It’s a new challenge, and I’m enjoying applying my previous experience in a more useful way.

“It’s great to be able to take a proactive role in transforming someone else’s business. Sometimes it feels like you’re turning people’s lives around.”
