News release

26th July 2013

A business event which will bring the county’s major industries together for a single show will be launched in Greater Lincolnshire this October.

Lincolnshire Media, in partnership with the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), is putting on the free Business Live event in a bid to put the spotlight on a range of industries which are important to the local economy.

The event will feature dedicated industry zones – property, finance, energy, digital, tourism and skills – and as well as a break-out zone for networking. It will take place at the Lincolnshire Showground on 16th October between 9.30am and 2.30pm – the same day as the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards.

Richard Duxbury, Managing Director at the Lincolnshire Echo, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the Greater Lincolnshire LEP to put on an event which we believe fills a gap in the existing business calendar.

“It seemed appropriate to join this event with our Business Awards, which take place later that day, but that’s just the start. Our vision is that in time we will create an annual Lincolnshire Business Week event which will give us a chance to showcase the great companies we have across the area, keep businesses updated on what is going on in the various sectors and provide a networking opportunity that is second to none.”

The Business Live event is open to businesses in Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North-East Lincolnshire. Exhibitors from all areas are expected to attend. Each industry zone will feature businesses and organisations relevant to its sector, along with a short talk. The talks will take place at staggered intervals to allow delegates to hear from as many sectors as they like, as well as ask questions.

The zones will fan out from a central area where two main speakers will deliver their talks. The idea is to ensure that people can engage with all parts of the show without needing to leave the exhibition hall.

The event will be opened by the Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, Ursula Lidbetter MBE. Ursula said: “We wanted to help put on a business event which would appeal to a wide range of people and not focus on one particular issue or sector. Greater Lincolnshire has a very diverse economy with a wide range of sectors which contribute to it, so we are incorporating as many of them as we can.

“It seemed right to host an event which allows people the opportunity to network with a variety of industries, hear what’s happening in their area and learn more about how they can access to support across the sectors. I hope to see as many businesses as possible attending the event.”
