9th March 2012

Lincoln-based agency Shooting Star PR has continued its run of recent client wins by being appointed to handle PR and stakeholder engagement for the new Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

This latest contract win broadens Shooting Star PR’s base of public sector clients, which also includes Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln.

Shooting Star PR, run by former journalists Kate Strawson and Jez Ashberry, landed the contract with the LEP after a competitive pitch. The agency is now working with Lincoln-based Optima Design to deliver a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for the new organisation.

“We have a great deal of experience of public sector and local government work which stood us in good stead for this very prestigious contract,” said Jez Ashberry, a Director of Shooting Star PR.

“The Greater Lincolnshire LEP has a vital role to play in growing the region’s economy and we are already hard at work developing a strategy to communicate and engage effectively with all stakeholders.”

Ruth Carver from the LEP’s Secretariat said: “A great deal of time and effort has been spent in developing the Greater Lincolnshire LEP and its priorities. It is important now for businesses across Greater Lincolnshire to know what is being achieved and we are also keen to open up two-way engagement by seeking views on how we should evolve.

“Shooting Star PR is a local agency that understands the area, has a proven track record of bringing the public and private sector together and, importantly, possesses the media contacts required to help us become an influential LEP.”

The Greater Lincolnshire LEP is a locally owned partnership of business, local authority and university leaders in the Greater Lincolnshire area who are collaborating to change the way economic growth in the area is driven.

The new body, which was set up following the demise of the Regional Development Agencies, covers a region from the Humber to the Wash – a huge area representing nearly a million people and very diverse business interests.

Its priorities are to lobby for and support improved infrastructure across Greater Lincolnshire and to develop key sectors within the economy that develop private sector growth and create jobs.

Shooting Star PR has now worked for more than 100 clients since it was founded in 2006, including glass manufacturer Beatson Clark, market-leading vehicle valeting firm Autoclenz, DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln, Cool Milk, the University of Lincoln and digital culture festival Frequency 2011.
