Work has been completed on phase one of the £2.5 million project to extend and refurbish the Sibthorp Library at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln.

Professor Muriel Robinson, Principal of the university college, and Emma Sansby, Head of Library Services at BG, received the keys to the new building from Eric Wilson, Site Manager at construction company John Martin-Hoyes.

The library houses 135,000 resources including books, journals, audio-visual resources (DVDs, CDs), ebooks and a renowned Teaching Resources Collection including children’s books, resource packs and puppet bags.

Once completed, the new building will also be the new home of BG’s Student Support and Learning Advice teams, bringing all the support students need under one purpose-built roof.

Phase two of the project begins on Monday 14th May and involves remodelling and refurbishing the existing part of the library building.

Construction work started in July 2011 and is expected to be completed in September 2012.
