News release

31st October 2012

Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers Duncan & Toplis have been dressing in pink to raise money for a breast cancer charity.

Staff and partners from the East Midlands-based firm donned pink ties, masks and tops before tucking into cakes to raise £463 for Breast Cancer Campaign.

Workers across all ten sites in Lincolnshire, Newark and Melton made donations to dress in pink for the day, while in the run-up to the Wear it Pink event on Friday (October 26th), they also held raffles and baked cakes and cookies for sale in the office.

The event was organised by Jeanette Martin, Personal Assistant to John Chappelle who is partner at the firm’s Skegness office. “Cancer is an illness that’s close to many people’s hearts, affecting thousands of people each year,” said Jeanette, who has worked at the firm for 20 years.

“Money is always needed to help cancer charities. The Wear it Pink event was an ideal opportunity to raise money and awareness for this excellent cause. People from all the Duncan & Toplis offices were very keen to get involved so we decided to make the fundraising last a little longer than just one day, holding cake sales in the weeks running up to the event. Great thanks to our amazing cooks.

“The items baked ranged from Victoria sponge cake and smiley face cookies to pink cup cakes with a pink ribbon and pink sausage rolls. Everyone has really enjoyed getting involved and doing something worthwhile so we think we’ll continue to have cake sales throughout the year.”

Breast Cancer Campaign is made up of a community of scientists, supporters and people touched by breast cancer.

The charity helps to identify and fund research projects with the greatest potential to save and improve lives and, ultimately, to find a cure for breast cancer. It was established in 1988 with the aim of researching the cure for breast cancer. The charity currently supports 102 research projects, worth over £17 million in 35 centres of excellence across the UK and Ireland.
