‘Seventh heaven’ for Porsche admirers at Spring Sale

Porsche is one of the marques most heavily represented at Silverstone Auction’s Spring Sale with seven models up for sale.

Most are superb road going vehicles but adding some extra spice is a race ready 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring (Lot 150), possibly one of the finest examples of its type ever made.

Bidding takes place on the 16thMay at Silverstone race circuit, when also up for sale will be a wide collection of racing cars, modern supercars and timeless classics, spanning almost 100 years.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “Our team prides itself on securing cars that are the finest examples of their type. Once again we’ve achieved this with these magnificent seven Porsche models and we are delighted to offer them for sale.”

Undoubtedly the star Porsche is the 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring (Lot 150), estimated at between £190,000 to £210,000, and regarded by many collectors and journalists as the greatest 911 ever produced.

This particular model has just completed a comprehensive restoration to the very highest standards by Marc De Siebenthal, a leading Swiss Porsche specialist. It has current FIA HTP papers and retains a number of its original factory options and is prepared for light competition use.

However, there are a further four 911’s at the auction. They include a 1970 911 T (Lot 156), estimated at between £22,000 to £26,000, a 1981 911 SC Ferry Porsche Special Edition Coupe (Lot 147), estimated at between £20,000 to £25,000, a 1984 911 RSR Replica (Lot 139), estimated at between £25,000 to £30,000, and a 1988 Carrera Sport (Lot 133), estimated at between £12,000 to £15,000.

Meanwhile, possibly one the rarest manual Porsche 928 S2 Strosek’s(Lot 125) on the market is estimated at between £14,000 to £18,000. This particular 1984 model is in immaculate condition and has been in single ownership from new.

The youngest Porsche at the sale is a 1989 944 S2 which is offered without reserve but expected to make around £3,500.

“The Porsche marque commands some fierce loyalty from its followers, so we expect interest to be particularly strong in all seven Porsche models,” added Nick.
