SinterCast momentum continues in April and May
- Record annualised series production of 2.8 million Engine Equivalents in April
- January-to-April series production 30% ahead of previous year
- Scania orders SinterCast Cast Tracker™ installation in May
[Stockholm, 24 May 2018] – Following record annualised production of 2.7 million Engine Equivalents in March, series production continued to increase in April, reaching an all-time monthly high of 2.8 million Engine Equivalents. With consecutive records in March and April, the annualised year-to-date production for the first four months of 2018 stands at 2.6 million Engine Equivalents, providing a 30% year-on-year increase. In parallel with the growth in series production, Sampling Cup shipments also increased, setting a new monthly record of 29,400 units in April, corresponding to a 61% increase in year-to-date shipments.
The positive momentum continued into May with the Scania foundry in Södertälje, Sweden, ordering an installation of the SinterCast Cast Tracker™ technology. The order follows a successful on-site trial since the autumn of 2017. The scope of the initial order includes tracking of the moulds from sand filling through to core setting, with five different measurement positions to trace the mould manufacturing process and to correlate sand properties to the mould identification. The installation is planned to be finalised during the third quarter and will be used for both grey iron and Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) production. Discussions are ongoing to expand the functionality to include traceability of the core production.
