Mr. Coffee Brewers Recalled Over Burn Hazard

Around 600,000 units of Mr. Coffee brewers have been recalled for a potential burn hazard.

The recall affects single-cup coffee brewers being sold in the US and Canada and imported by Jarden Consumer Solutions.

The Associated Press reports that the machine’s brewing chamber opens due to a build-up of steam in the water reservoir. Hot coffee and water spurts out and may cause burn injuries to the face, torso, and hands. There have been 164 reports of burn injuries in both the US and Canada.

The company announced this recall in association with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada. Around 520,000 units of single-cup brewers have been recalled from the U.S. and 80,700 units from Canada.
