LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 24, 2012) – St. Croix Shop, the U.S.-based luxury men’s sportswear retailer, today announced that it will partner with Clothes4Souls® Inc. in a national clothing drive from April 26 until May 31, 2012 to donate new and “gently worn” clothing to victims of war, natural disasters and people living in poverty in the U.S. and around the globe.

Americans discard over 68 pounds of clothing per year, with over 85% of clothing purchased in the USA ending up in landfills instead of being recycled. At its ten locations throughout the USA, St. Croix Shop joins the efforts to affect a change in helping Clothes4Souls to provide gently used clothing to the 1 in 4 adults across the world living in abject poverty. For this population, basic necessities such as clothing are not available. Clothes4Souls is working to change that status, thanks to partners like St Croix Shop.

“This is a terrific way for our customers to engage in an impactful way to improve the lives of others in this country and around the world,” said Bruce Amster, Director of Stores for St. Croix Shop. “Our customers have long been involved in our various charitable efforts. We are thrilled to introduce this new opportunity to put their used clothing back into useful service through our involvement with Clothes4Souls this year.”

Ten St. Croix Locations Serve as Local Clothing Collection Points

Under the St. Croix Shop effort, ten St. Croix Shop locations will collect clothing donated by customers for shipment to Clothing4Souls. As a thank you, customers receive an immediate $35 discount on purchase of new St. Croix apparel. For every item donated, customers will receive $35 off each item purchased (limit one offer per item.) No purchase is necessary to donate clothing so consumers are encouraged to clean out their closets and provide hope to those in need through the gift of clothing.

“We’re proud that St. Croix Shop has become a committed and enthusiastic partner in our cause,” said Pattie Graben, Director of Retail Development at Clothes4Souls. “Their willingness to serve as clothing collection points for Clothes4Souls in nine states is much appreciated. The global need for clothing donations continues to grow, and we’re grateful that St. Croix Shop has enlisted to support our mission.”

Customers can also make a financial donation at www.clothes4souls.org. For every dollar donated, Clothes4Souls will provide a person in need with gently worn shirts, sweaters, trousers and such. Clothing collection sites will be at St. Croix Shops in Troy, Michigan; Scottsdale, Arizona; San Jose and Newport Beach, California; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Denver, Colorado; Chicago. Illinois; Boston, Massachusetts; Dallas, Texas; and Atlanta, Georgia.
