For the second year running, Southampton Solent University has been voted one of the top creative universities in the Which? University student survey.

Based on the views of more than 12,500 undergraduate students across the UK, Southampton Solent has been rated one of the top six creative universities in the country in this year’s survey.

“Professional staff, innovative programmes of study, incredible work opportunities and cutting-edge facilities make Solent one of the UK’s top creative industry providers,” says Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graham Baldwin.

“Coupled with a wealth of societies, strong links with the region’s arts and events scene and a city rich in culture, we have an excellent creative provision at Southampton Solent,” he continues.

As in previous years, the survey asked students to rate their university on different extra-curricular aspects. Students gave their views on different extra-curricular aspects including, sport, creativity, politics, student union activities and local nightlife.

With regards to creativity, students were asked how big a role music, theatre, dance and visual arts play in their university life, and what arts societies, events and facilities were available at their place of study.

Naomi Oiku, President of Solent University’s Students’ Union says, “We have a huge range of activities and opportunities for students. As well as fashion and sports societies we have a society for aspiring DJs and Sonar Media, which gives students the chance to have their own radio show, film their own TV series, screen the latest blockbuster movies or write a magazine.”
