Fiber Art Sale To Feature Over Thirty Artists

ATLANTA (November 3, 2014) — The Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance will host its annual Fiber Art Sale and Silent Auction on November 8-9, 2014 at SEFAA Center 1705 Commerce Drive, NW in Atlanta.

This year’s Fiber Art Sale will feature the work of over thirty local artists and their unique hand-made textiles, including clothing, accessories, gifts, household textiles, and artwork.

“You won't find another event where the focus is local, artisan-made textiles and fiber art, so this is the perfect opportunity to jump-start your holiday shopping,” said Suzi Gough, President of Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance. “Our talented artists are offering a huge array of goods from hand felted dryer balls and upcycled fabric jewelry to silk painted, woven, and indigo dip-dyed wall art.”

Fiber artists use natural or synthetic materials and techniques including sewing, knitting, felting, weaving, embroidery, and surface design to create their work.

“This year I will be selling purses, from tiny party clutches to large everyday bags,” says participating artist Chrissy Weeks. “The SEFAA sale is fun because it has a wide variety of items and styles which makes it exciting to see and buy work from other artists. This year I will be looking for some wall art and maybe some statement pieces to jazz up my winter wardrobe.”

From traditional log cabin quilts and knit socks to innovative woven electronic textiles and stitched grapefruit rinds, fiber arts is a vast field, rooted in tradition, that is constantly evolving.

“Textiles and their colors, textures, and patterns are the art we live with, and I guarantee there will be something at our sale/silent auction that you won't want to live without!”

This years Fiber Arts Sale will start on Saturday, November 8 from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and will feature a silent auction from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The Fiber Arts sale will conclude on Sunday, November 9 from Noon - 4:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
