“We are very happy that so many of Stena Line customers chose to support our work. It has also been great to see the enthusiasm and engagement among the employees at Stena Line during the campaign,” says Tomas Fransson, National Director at Mercy Ships Sweden.
“An essential part of our partnership with Mercy Ships is to raise the awareness about the organisation. This campaign has not only resulted in a monetary contribution from our customers, but also that more people are aware of Mercy Ships and their work,” says Niclas Mårtensson, CEO.
The coffee campaign was launched on all 37 Stena Line ferries on Sept 1st and ran for two months until 31st of October. During the campaign Stena Line customers were given the opportunity to choose to buy their coffee or tea in a special Mercy Ships mug where 20p was donated directly to Mercy Ships. In total 61 807 donations was made by the customers during the campaign period, which is equivalent to keeping an operating room running for two weeks on board the hospital ship Africa Mercy.
The humanitarian NGO Mercy Ships organisation and Stena Line went into partnership formally in February of this year with the aim to raise general awareness about the charity, promote volunteering and charitable giving both within Stena Line itself as well as amongst its customers and partners.
