Golf meets the X- Factor as Stoke Park looks to the future by launching auditions for exclusive youth Golf Scholarships
On Saturday 27th October, Stoke Park, Europe’s Leading 5 Star Country Club, Spa and Hotel, will be holding a try out day for any budding golfers, aged 10 – 16, to be shortlisted for five exclusive Golf Scholarships at the club.
The day will consist of a series of skill tests, including short game and long game skills, and a number of holes played on Stoke Park’s prestigious course. The golfers will be observed by a number of professional golf coaches headed by Stuart Rank, Stoke Park’s Head of Instruction, who are eager to spot future talent. The coaches are looking for future potential, not necessarily who plays best on the day.
Stuart Collier, Stoke Park’s Director of Golf comments, ‘At Stoke Park, we are keen to help support the future of golf in the UK, and to help nurture talent. The idea behind the scholarship programmes is to holistically train the next generation of talented players, to make stars of the future.’
This initiative comes directly from Stoke Park’s members, who are keen to nurture golf talent for the future. The members are personally funding half the scholarship programme, with Stoke Park matching any contribution they make. The scholarships offer a fantastic opportunity for young golfers to develop their game by taking advantage not only of the prestigious course but also of the world class practice facilities Stoke Park that has worked hard to develop.
‘We have the privilege of being able to play on one of the country’s finest courses, with fantastic facilities. It is our passion for club development which brought about this idea, as we are keen to develop the junior game,’ said Mike Fretwell, Golf Captain of Stoke Park.
After the try out day, shortlisted golfers will be invited back for an interview, and after that the final 5 will be selected for the Scholarships.
