Today SPUD.ca (Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery) and VancouverMom.ca launched the 1st Vancouver’s Greenest Family Contest.

“We wanted to create a contest that would spotlight families, and what they are doing that is green to help contribute to a more sustainable society”, said Peter Van Stolk, CEO, SPUD.ca.

Running throughout the month of April, all families in Vancouver are eligible to enter and share what they are doing as a family to live green.

The objective of the contest is to spark conversation around eating and living a healthy life as a family.  There are so many ways a family can contribute to being green; from turning the lights off, growing vegetables in your garden, choosing to buy and eat locally grown and produced products, using your car less or carpooling more. “Together we can all do our part, big and small to make a difference”, said Christine Pilkington, Publisher, VancouverMom.ca.

VancouverMom.ca and SPUD have selected a panel of judges who are experts in their own right when it comes to producing, living or creating green products. The panel will help narrow down the list of entrants to the top 5 greenest families. It will then be passed to you Vancouver, to vote and decide which nominee deserves the title of Vancouver’s Greenest Family.

The winner will receive an incredible prize of over $1500 in organic, local, natural food and eco friendly products, as well as a week to demo the brand new Chevrolet Volt electric car.
