To fully align with the Sweco strategy and to simplify the organisation, Sweco announces an adjustment to its business area structure. In conjunction, Bo Carlsson is retiring from Sweco’s Executive Team.

In the adjusted structure, Sweco Belgium and Sweco United Kingdom become new business areas. Country Managing Director of Belgium, Erwin Malcorps and Country Managing Director of UK, Max Joy, become members of the Executive Team. After the adjustment, there will be eight Business Areas within Sweco: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany & Central Europe, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and United Kingdom.

“I am very pleased to welcome Erwin Malcorps and Max Joy to the Executive Team. Both have strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of our industry. They will be great assets to the Executive Team,” concludes Åsa Bergman, President and CEO of Sweco.

Bo Carlsson, currently President of Sweco Western Europe, will be taking on the position as senior advisor reporting directly to Åsa Bergman.

Åsa Bergman: "Bo Carlsson has been tremendously important for the development of the Sweco group. With 28 years within the company, his understanding of the Sweco model is unmatched. From a personal perspective, I have very much enjoyed working closely together with Bo and I am happy that he will stay as my senior advisor.”

Max Joy joined Sweco as UK Managing Director in March 2016. He joined directly from the British Army in which he served for 28 years. Erwin Malcorps has been Sweco Belgium’s Managing Director since 2011. He has a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Leuven University.

The new structure is effective immediately and will be reported financially as of 1 January, 2019.
