Teachers Assurance, a UK based friendly society and provider of savings, investments and insurance, has announced a partnership with LV= (Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society), to promote the organisation’s financial advice service.

As part of their complimentary Financial Education Programme, consisting of over 150 seminars countrywide throughout 2015, Teachers Assurance will refer customers and members who would like advice on their investment and retirement plans to LV=. In turn LV=’s in-house advice panel, staffed by highly qualified financial advisers, will offer advice on a wide range of financial solutions from a panel of providers.

Wendie Michie, Commercial Director at Teachers Assurance comments: “We’re delighted to be able to offer LV=’s financial advice service to our members and customers, especially those who attend our seminars looking for support and guidance as they approach retirement.”

The decision to offer financial advice referrals follows the recent announcement that Teachers Provident Society Limited (TPS), trading as Teachers Assurance,  has proposed to transfer the majority of its business interests to LV=. The proposed transfer includes all of the Teachers Assurance group of companies, with the exception of Sovereign Unit Trust Managers Limited (SUTM) and is due to take place in early 2016, pending member and regulatory approval.

Richard Rowney, Managing Director of LV= Life and Pensions adds: “This agreement will mean Teachers Assurance can offer access to highly qualified financial advice with immediate effect. We strongly believe that financial advice can significantly enhance the outcome that individuals achieve, especially at the point of retirement and although the majority of teachers will have a final salary pension scheme, our advice service could help many decide how best to structure their finances and make the most of their pension lump sums, their long-term savings and their investments.”

Teachers Assurance is adding the financial advice referral service to its existing Financial Education Programme, which has been designed to support teachers looking to make informed decisions about their financial future. The programme includes a range of financial planning seminars delivered throughout England and Wales, as well as a team of friendly Customer Support Officers who are on hand to answer teachers’ financial planning questions six days a week.

In addition to their financial planning services, Teachers Assurance also offers a range of savings, investment and insurance products tailored to meet the needs of teachers and their families. The current range includes NISA and Unit Trust savings products, as well as Defaqto 5 star rated home and contents policies.
