TeliaSonera offers two new Skanova ADSL services
and announces plans to build out 100 switches in six months
TeliaSonera is now offering two new Skanova ADSL services to operators
in Sweden. The transmission speeds are 0.25 Mbit/s and 2 Mbit/s. In
addition, some 100 switches will be expanded in the country for ADSL
applications. With this build-out, operators will be able to offer ADSL
services to approximately 100,000 more consumers in Sweden.
With the new services, operators will have greater possibilities to
price and package services in various ways for different target groups.
TeliaSonera is also making it simpler for operators to price services on
a pay-as-you-use basis. The services are being presented to 12 ADSL
operators on March 5. After this date, services will be packaged and
priced for consumers by the operators.
"There is a strong, growing demand for ADSL and for different ADSL
solutions in the market. We have differentiated our offering to meet our
customers' needs and requirements," says Marie Ehrling, head of
TeliaSonera Sweden.
In Sweden, 431,000 customers have broadband connections through one of
the 12 operators offering services through Telia's network today. To
date, 1,300 public switches have been built out for ADSL applications.
Now TeliaSonera is expanding the network to provide access to ADSL
services for more customers which will suit their needs. TeliaSonera
will announce the locations of the switches that will be equipped for
ADSL during March.
