AUSTIN – The Propane Council of Texas (ProCOT) and the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) invite Texas emergency responders and propane industry professionals to the Propane Emergency Responders Conference. The conference will take place on September 23-24 at the world-class facilities of Brayton Training Field at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service in College Station.

A 16-hour educational session, the conference includes a combination of classroom and live fire training. Propane industry professionals and emergency responders will come together to exchange vital propane safety information, techniques and experiences—including response and mitigation strategies. PERC’s pioneering comprehensive training program, the Propane Emergencies Program, is currently used in 27 states, and is a benchmark for other hazardous materials training programs.

“During the past 15 years, the propane industry has invested millions of dollars in training hundreds of thousands of firefighters and emergency responders,” said Bill Van Hoy, Executive Director of ProCOT. “This conference demonstrates the propane industry’s continued commitment to the safety and well-being of fire service and other emergency responders, as well as the public.”

Safety is the propane industry’s highest priority, and both ProCOT and PERC are excited to work with first responders to ensure the wellness of our communities. Propane is a safe fuel when properly stored, transported, handled and used. Thanks to stringent codes and regulations, the industry’s extensive knowledge, and the availability of training and safety-awareness programs, consumers can feel safe and secure using propane in a variety of home and business applications.

The conference welcomes professionals involved in propane safety and response activities, including propane professionals, firefighters, hazmat trainers, and other emergency responders.
