Interview with Phillip Thune: A look into the SEO Crystal Ball

Las Vegas, NV–February 10, 2015–What does 2015 have in store for the content, SEO and online marketing industries? Textbroker CEO, Phillip Thune, analyzes the most important developments of the past few years in SEO and takes a look into the future.

From improved semantics and the Knowledge Graph to the differences between various technological devices, 2014 was an exciting year in SEO. The coming year will also bring plenty of new challenges to those who work with websites, content, online marketing and SEO.

In the interview, Thune discusses the most important developments in SEO and online marketing in 2015. Among these:

  • Google will continue to develop artificial intelligence within the area of semantics.
  • Presumably, the importance of links as a ranking factor will decrease. “Google knows precisely that you don’t necessarily have to build links organically. With the Penguin updates, Google will continue this year to focus on finding and penalizing those who cheat the system.”
  • Mobile search will be further optimized. Because of this, responsive content and responsive design will become increasingly vital for businesses.
  • Local search will continue to grow in importance.

Additionally, high-quality content on websites remains in the spotlight of SEO. “Google is constantly trying to improve their understanding of what is happening on a website and to better recognize user signals.”

Longer average stays, fewer bounces, more clicks in general and more clicks per visit will only be possible with quality content such as articles, graphics and videos. The critical question for website operators should be this: “What kind of content do my users want to see and how do I prepare it?”

In 2015, it will become even more essential to anticipate the informational overflow that users face and to prepare the content in a way that readers are able to find the desired information quickly. In addition to that, the individualization of the Web will start to play an even more important role. A significant keyword to remember here is “dynamic content.”
