Angela Coakley from Sarratt in Hertfordshire has won the Senior Dressage title in the Amtrust Equine RWHS Unaffiliated Championships at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The competition gives grass roots riders a unique opportunity to compete at Royal Windsor. All competitors are members of the British Riding Clubs movement and earned their places in these finals at individual riding club qualifiers held across the UK.

Angela rode The Wexford Noble Hero, a six-year-old Irish Sports Horse who she has owned since he was four years old. The partnership represented Breakspear Riding Club.

Speaking after the prize giving she said: “I am just over the moon with the result! My horse went into the arena so full of himself. This is the biggest thing he’s ever done and he’s only young so there’s definitely more to come.

“I just wanted him to have a really positive experience today regardless of where we came. When we came second in the first class, I thought ‘there’s more to come’, so in the second test I just tried to ride braver and he was just so under me.

“Riding in the Castle arena and doing the lap of honour was the most amazing experience. The whole day has just been wonderful!”

Perdie Reid, Claims Manager at Amtrust Equine, said: “We’ve had an absolutely wonderful show. For us this is what it is all about – supporting grass roots horses and ponies. Riding Club horses are exactly the type of animals we want to insure so, this competition is perfect for us to support.”
