Showjumping focus at this year’s BHS Spring Convention
International course designer Steve Williams and top showjumping coach Corinne Bracken will come together to present an enthralling insight into course building and course walking at The British Horse Society’s Spring Convention on 12 March at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire.
Course building is not an easy task and there are many factors to take into account other than just getting the right height jumps for the class in some sort of order. Steve Williams, a highly experienced course designer and builder will be looking at aspects such as well presented jumps for horse and rider, aesthetically pleasing layout for the spectator, sponsorship considerations, limitations of the arena and materials, how much time is there between classes to build the course and much more.
Once the course is built, Corinne Bracken will then demonstrate how to walk the course in order for horse and rider to put in their optimum performance. Corrine will use her knowledge as a BS Accredited Coach and BHS Registered Instructor to teach skills from remembering the course, to how turns into fences should be ridden to get a good line and shave off those important seconds.
This is a day for all levels of rider and coach as the information will be invaluable to both. It should not be missed by showjumping spectators either, as an appreciation of the technicalities of course building and how hard the riders work to put in a good round before they even get on their horse will add to viewing enjoyment.
Tickets are priced £43, BHS Registered Instructors £39. Group discounts are available. The day counts as a Continual Professional Development (CPD) update for BHS Registered Instructors. For ticket bookings or further event information please contact the BHS Training Department on 02476 840510 or email@example.com; or visit the website at www.bhs.org.uk.
