Beverly Hills, Calif.  (May 10, 2011) -- Christopher Guy, world-renowned British luxury furnishings designer, announced the winners of the 1st annual Christopher Guy-BritWeek Design Award at a celebration hosted by Architectural Digest on the evening of May 5th, 2011. Annie Harrison, design student at the Art Institute of California – Orange County received the top prize of a one month internship at the Christopher Guy corporate office in Singapore. Kristina Kral and Melissa Klink, both design students of UCLA Extension, tied for the runner-up prize of a one week internship in Paris during the Maison et Objet furnishings exhibition.

“My 30 years of amassing knowledge and experiences in the global design business would be meaningless if it couldn't be shared with others,” said Christopher Guy Harrison. “Providing these opportunities to the three young winners bestows me that greatest honor,” he adds.

The Christopher Guy brand challenged aspiring interior designers to enter the high-end furnishing industry. The design competition required interior design and product design students from participating Los Angeles design schools to create a Coco Chanel inspired lifestyle setting or an individual furniture piece within this setting. The winning design may be chosen to be part of the new 2012 Mademoiselle lifestyle collection to be released by Christopher Guy worldwide. Students of design programs from the following schools competed to win the internship prizes, Otis School of Art and Design, The Art Institute of California – Orange County, UCLA Extension Arc-ID, Westwood College and College of the Canyons.

The panel of judges included Christopher Guy Harrison, CEO, head designer and founder of Christopher Guy; Martyn Lawrence Bullard, celebrity interior designer and named one of the top 100 Interior Designers in the World by Architectural Digest magazine; Birgit C. Muller, three time Emmy awarding winning costume designer and Alissa Sutton, television host and interior designer.
