Described as 'a lively and carefully research study' by Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Bt, OBE, Kit Mayers shares the travels of Anthony Jenkinson in his book The First English Explorer.

Devon author Kit Mayers has dedicated much of his time to investigating the travels of the first English explorer, Anthony Jenkinson. His extensive research has come together in his new book that details the adventures of Jenkinson, focussing particularly on his journeys to the Orient. “My own travels made me wonder how on earth he did it,” explains Kit. “It made me think about how Jenkinson travelled that far, and what he did know and what he did not know. He was amazingly successful despite all sorts of hazards.”

‘This important book fills an undoubted gap in the history of English travellers in the sixteenth century,’ – Professor David Loades, FSA, Emeritus Profess of History at the University of Wales
