GLOBAL DANCE EVENT OF THE YEAR HAPPENING THIS WEEK IN HOLLYWOOD!

Hundreds of International dancers gather at Dance Excellence.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Los Angeles, California):   On Sunday, April 1, 2012, DANCE EXCELLENCE, the global dance event of the year, made Hollywood, California its home. Creating a thrilling week of dance and performance opportunities, founder Annie McQuitty puts great emphasis on arts education and the sharing of cultures between international dance communities, setting this event apart from every other dance convention and competition anywhere.   Hundreds of dancers will arrive from as far away as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, England, Japan, Malta, St. Maarten, Wales and all over The United States. They gather to create, laugh, learn and sweat side by side while communicating through a shared love of the dance arts.

A master teaching roster of today’s top choreographers and professional dancers is a huge draw for these young artists: Stacey Tookey , Emmy nominated choreographer and guest judge, So You Think You Can Dance ; Cody Green, winner of Bravo TV’s Step It Up and Dance , guest star HBO’s True Blood , and leading Broadway dancer, Come Fly Away and West Side Story ; Carlos Thomas, lead dancer and percussionist, STOMP.   Other notables include Suzy Miller, Doug Caldwell, Mark Meismer, Alex Little, Keith Clifton, Mark Goodman, Adam Parson, Bill Brawley, Heidi Jarrett, Nolan Padilla, Jeremy Knutsen, David Wilcox and Robyn Brawley.  They collectively teach all dance genres, including lyrical, jazz, tap, musical theater, hip hop and ballet.  As a special feature, Anindo Marshall will teach a traditional African Dance class in promotion of DANCE EXCELLENCE’s international vibe.

Performance opportunities for these global artists are in abundance during the week, both as entertainers and audience members.  Each of the 21 studios has been invited to perform onstage at Disneyland.  Additionally, the Charles M. Schulz Theater at Knott’s Berry Farm will showcase dancers in a full day of performance.  The seven day festival culminates in a private, red carpet event including an awards banquet honoring each studio director and dancer.  Following the awards, the audience is treated to a professional show featuring the current cast of the international performing company, The Young Americans .  Moreover, two artists from each dance troupe, selected for their passionate expression and dance expertise, will join The Young Americans in performing onstage.

Dancers and studio owners continually remark that the week of DANCE EXCELLENCE is the highlight of their year, and they hope to be invited to represent their area again and again.  To see photos and videos from DANCE EXCELLENCE, or get more information on this event, please visit www.defestival.com .
