LOS ANGELES (JANUARY 17, 2012)-The Kynx hair care line is celebrating Black History Month by honoring the tenacity and courage of one their founding mothers, Dorothy Dandridge. Strong, non-conformist, and bold, Ms. Dandridge and her story bolstered and enabled the present day “Kynx” girl to be proud of their hair, heritage, and their individuality.

As the first African American woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress she defied all social labels and boundaries that surrounded her. Coming from a multi-cultural background Ms. Dandridge embodied all the fundamental characteristics and principles the Kynx hair care line was built upon. Inspiring many African American women at the time, she gave them the strength to be who they wanted to be and not what society expected the to be.
Dandridge’s actions served as a catalyst for many African Americans in the entertainment industry. With a high obstinacy to criticism Dandridge embraced her culture and stood true to her self, just as a Kynx girl stays true to her natural self. The Dorothy Dandridge legacy taught people that it is our right as individuals to push the social norm and not let society’s expectations define you.
Kynx hair community is proud to commemorate Dorothy Dandridge as their quintessential Kynx girl. Dandridge embodied everything a Kynx girl should be-independent, sexy, strong, confident, resilient, free, saucy, unique, blessed, natural, and thriving.
