River Street Sweets•Savannah’s Candy Kitchen Offers Owner-Operators an Exciting Candy and Confectionary Business Model with 40+ years of Experience

How sweet would it be own and operate a world famous candy shop?

That’s the question River Street Sweets•Savannah’s Candy Kitchen executives are posing to franchise prospects lining up for a delicious bite of the action in what is one of the most exciting candy and confectionary concepts ever to offer franchising opportunities.

River Street Sweets•Savannah’s Candy Kitchen is a marriage of two well-known and highly respected old-fashioned candy brands based in the Southeastern U.S. Operating since 1973, River Street Sweets is the oldest candy store in Savannah, Georgia. Today, siblings Jennifer and Tim Strickland operate River Street Sweets, and just down the street, their father Stan Strickland operates Savannah’s Candy Kitchen. Now, after operating independent brands for more than two decades, the family has reunited to offer a franchise opportunity that brings together the entire Strickland family and their combined experience in the confectionary industry.

“We are so excited to provide franchise owners and operators the ability to create their own Southern-style candy business unlike any other,” said Jennifer Strickland, vice president and co-founder of River Street Sweets•Savannah’s Candy Kitchen.

Offering a variety of handmade candies such as World Famous Pralines®, caramels, Loggerheads®, and old-fashion brittle handcrafted right in front of customers, the candy brand provides fresh handmade Southern candies served in a fun and interactive environment. Combined, there are more than a dozen River Street Sweets and Savannah’s Candy Kitchen locations across Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Plus, the businesses boast a strong mail and web ordering presence, which franchisees will have the ability to tap into as part of the franchise network.

“We are screening a select group of outgoing and motivated individuals and teams with a strong work ethic and integrity to join our franchise network,” said co-owner Tim Strickland. “Opportunities are available now for others looking to invest in a growing industry with a group of people who truly understand it.”

Franchise expansion plans call for further growth in Georgia and across the Southeast in targeted tourist locations in Florida; sweeping into South Carolina, North Carolina, and north into Ohio and New York; and blanketing popular markets across Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and Alabama. The brand is targeting high-traffic tourist areas, historic areas, outdoor life centers and downtown shopping and dining areas as it develops its franchise.

“When our family opened our first location in Savannah more than 40 years ago, we never dreamed that our quaint candy store would become such a huge phenomenon,” added co-founder Stan Strickland. “It is so amazing to see how the business has expanded, and how we’ve created a candy empire across the Southeast and beyond. This coming together to create a complete franchise program for owner-operators makes me proud of my family and confident that we can help franchisees create a renowned candy business in their communities.”

Initial onboarding for qualified owner-operators includes extensive training about the brand’s established systems, policies and procedures at its corporate office in Savannah, Georgia. Franchisees are provided with trained instructors, state-of-the-art facilities, and detailed materials as part of the initial training program. The franchise program provides owner-operators a complete system, dedicated support team, and a nationally recognized brand to build a business around.

The initial franchise fee is $35,000 – qualified military veterans receive $5,000 off the fee and owners converting into a River Street Sweets•Savannah’s Candy Kitchen receive an $11,000 discount. The total investment to start a franchise store is between $396,800 and $716,000.
