Leyland Trucks charity support Leyland Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

  • Helping Hand charity donates £1,300 to fund items beneficial to children’s mental health

22 April 2016. The Leyland Trucks onsite Charity, Helping Hand has once again pledged to support a vital local community project, the Leyland Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

Working with MedEquip4Kids, a children’s charity which works to provide equipment and facilities in hospitals, Helping Hand is supporting the Leyland CAMHS project, which provides support and treatment for vulnerable children and young people who are suffering with mental health problems.

The Helping Hand donation of £1,300 will provide additional resources, toys and reference materials to the CAMHS unit, including: reference books for parents, stress toys and games, mood cards to help with communication and diagnostic kits to help staff provide the correct support.

Speaking of the donation, Neale Handley, Helping Hand Chairman commented: “This kind of activity is precisely what the committee and all those involved with Helping Hand are working towards.  Enabling the Leyland CAMHS unit to benefit from resources which would not otherwise be available, will help improve the mental health and wellbeing of so many in our community and we are delighted to be able to help.”

MedEquip4Kids Chief Executive Ghazala Baig said: “We are very grateful to Leyland Trucks Helping Hand for their generous donation.  The work we do ensures children have better access to services and tools that will greatly enhance their quality of life, so every donation we receive makes a significant difference.”
