Yet another Bosch-trained winner of Top Technician

After painstaking practical assessments, battling against 700 motor technicians, Bosch Car Service garage owner Mike Harding, of Harding Auto Services in Woking, has been announced as the winner of Top Technician 2014.

The annual competition, run by the publishers of Aftermarket Magazine and in association with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), was created to recognise and reward the best vehicle technicians in the UK through a series of assessments. With prize funds worth over £16,000 and real benefits for every entrant, competition is fierce.

Mike, who is the seventh Bosch-trained technician to win the competition since 2005, proved victorious in the finals. Held at the Honda Institute in Slough, Mike and the other technicians’ skills were put to the test over a range of tasks designed to cover the final six assessments of the competition, which included a Jaguar F-type with the multimedia interface not working, a Porsche 997 with brake judder, a stalling diesel VW Passat, an under-powered diesel Honda Jazz, a Honda Civic that had hit a pot hole and even a non-start motorbike.

“I am obviously over the moon to have won but I believe the biggest winner is the industry, as we can see it is really moving forward,” said Mike on receiving the award. “I’ve really enjoyed myself throughout the competition as it gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills and the camaraderie between the finalists was great.”

Part of the Bosch Car Service Network, a leading UK automotive service provider, Harding Auto Services is recognised locally for offering both excellent levels of customer service, as well as carrying out all work using the latest workshop equipment.

All technicians at Harding Auto Services have regularly attended Bosch Training Schemes and have achieved Bosch Trained Technician status. Able to demonstrate that they have received training above and beyond that of many other independent garages – supported by the globally-renowned Bosch name – the garage is able to offer a genuine-value alternative to main dealer servicing and repair.

Bosch Car Service Concept Manager, Rhian Kendall, said: “Bosch’s reputation in providing the very best in training is underlined by the fact that Mike is the seventh of our delegates to win the Top Technician title, but we’re constantly looking at how we can improve our support for the industry.”

All Bosch Car Service garages are members of the Trading Standards Institute approved customer code and have access to some of the leading technology in the industry, developed by Bosch. These two factors together can reassure customers that the service they receive from Harding Auto Services will compete with any alternative local garage.
