Vattenfall takes further steps to unite its brand in Europe by changing the name of its Dutch subsidiary Nuon to Vattenfall. Nuon has been an integrated part of Vattenfall since 2009.

Vattenfall’s strategy is to make fossil free living possible within one generation. The name change is done in order to invest in the company’s future by gaining strengths, efficiency and scale to better serve the customers to achieve this goal.

This is a natural step and with one name and one message, we are more effective strategically and financially. Nuon is an important part of Vattenfall and is at the forefront when it comes to customer centricity, an example to implement throughout our organisation. Vattenfall recently won the tender for the first non-subsidised wind farm, Hollandse Kust Zuid in the Netherlands, which was possible because of our shared expertise and resources. We have been working as one for nearly a decade and now it is time to be one also externally, says Magnus Hall, CEO of Vattenfall.

Vattenfall is today present on seven markets; Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, United Kingdom, Finland and France. On all markets except in the Netherlands under the company name Vattenfall. The name change of Nuon will take place gradually starting today, October 4. For customers in the Netherlands the first changes will be visible in the beginning of next year.

We believe that Vattenfall will be more successful under one European name, in which we can pool all our investments, expertise and strengths. We are confident that we as one Vattenfall can achieve much more across our markets and can do even more good for our customers, says Magnus Hall.
