Vizrt integrates Viz Libero with Evertz DreamCatcher for advanced sports analysis workflows
National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, 13-16 April 2015, booth SL2417 — Vizrt, a leading provider of production tools for the digital media industry, has announced an integration between its Viz Libero sports analysis solution and Evertz’ DreamCatcher replay system. The integration allows Viz Libero to control DreamCatcher and capture video from various game plays for analysis clip production, giving TV viewers unprecedented insights into controversial or interesting highlights. The integration will be showcased at NAB 2015 at Vizrt’s booth SL2417.
“DreamCatcher is a proven and robust IP-based replay system. Its replay capabilities and openness for video control make it the ideal system to integrate with Viz Libero,” said Stephan Würmlin Stadler, Vizrt’s executive vice president, sports. “The integration of our products creates the perfect sports analysis and replay workflow for the OB van at the venue or back at the station when covering live sports like football, baseball, hockey, and soccer.”
From within the Viz Libero application, users can directly control the DreamCatcher server, switch cameras and access different game plays, to create analysis clips without the need for any DreamCatcher control unit or separate operator. Viz Libero will then create 3D virtual perspectives along with annotations, player tracks, and many other analysis features. Once the analysis is complete, the clip is either played out directly from Viz Libero or pushed back to the DreamCatcher clip library for access by the producer or highlights program manager. The complete workflow including the 3D camera flights can be applied remotely either in the studio feeding the DreamCatcher and Viz Libero or by a single satellite feed from the game.
“We’re excited to see Vizrt integrate with our DreamCatcher production system. Through DreamCatcher's flexible API and robust networking, the Viz Libero sports analysis system leverages DreamCatcher’s powerful features. The resulting integration adds tremendous value to any live sports production,” said Vince Silvestri, Evertz’ vice president of software systems.
DreamCatcher is a highly scalable IP-based instant replay system and production suite with the most advanced storytelling tools in the industry. Powered by Evertz’s 10GbE SDVN network technology, DreamCatcher provides immediate access to any content within the cluster to any number of playout channels and any number of operators. Combined with its rapid editing capabilities and enhanced workflows, DreamCatcher enables new possibilities in live production.
As sports games become faster and more complex, analysis tools are needed in order to break down the key plays and visualise the tactics behind them. Viz Libero combines realistic looking 3D replays and advanced virtual graphics for sports broadcasts, giving TV viewers unprecedented insight into controversial or tactically interesting sports scenes.
Vizrt will be hosting a press event on its stand (SL2417) at NAB on Monday 13 April at 12.30pm. To rsvp email Vizrt@rlyl.com.
