Wallenstam introduces smoke-free living in all new housing production

Starting from January 1, 2019, Wallenstam is introducing smoke-free living in all new housing production, in order to offer tenants a healthy, pleasant and smoke-free living environment.

“The home is a place where we spend a lot of time and therefore it is extra important to have a good environment. Many tenants turn to us because they have trouble with smoke in their homes. This means that we want to act on this and offer a smoke-free living environment when we develop new homes,” says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.

The decision means that a smoking ban will apply in all of Wallenstam’s newly constructed rental properties, in which contracts are drawn up from January 1, 2019. Incoming tenants sign an addendum to the contract, meaning that they undertake to contribute to a smoke-free home environment. Apart from the apartment itself, the smoking ban also covers common areas, the courtyard, balcony, access balcony, patio and garage.

Smoke-free areas are becoming increasingly common throughout society and through this decision, Wallenstam can offer its tenants that move in to newly produced homes the possibility of a smoke-free home environment.
