The municipal executive board in Järfälla Municipality has decided to choose Wallenstam as one of two anchor developers for Barkarbystaden IV. The agreement implies an option to negotiate with the municipality regarding land allocations for housing construction within the zoning plan areas for two years.

We are very proud about the commission to be an anchor developer for Barkarbystaden IV. It will be a natural progression for us as a company to continue developing the Barkarbystaden district together with other developers,” says Mathias Aronsson Vice CEO, Wallenstam AB.

The zoning plans for Barkarbystaden III and IV include around 6,000 apartments, an F-9 school (from about the age of 6 up to ninth grade), Barkarbystaden’s future metro station, workplaces and premises for retail and public services. The intention of the parties is that each land allocation should include building rights equivalent to at least 100 apartments. The location of the building rights will be decided in the coming land allocation agreements.

Järfälla Municipality as part of an agreement for extension of the Stockholm metro from Akalla to Barkarby, has undertaken to construct 14,000 apartments in the metro’s catchment area up to 2030. In the urban development area Barkarbystaden, development is in progress within the zoning plan for Barkarbystaden I as well as planning in detail within the zoning plan for Barkarbystaden II and III and zoning plan work is also ongoing for Barkarbystaden IV.
