BURLINGTON STONE MAKES THE MOST OF MOSAICS AT GRAND DESIGNS LIVE

Leading British stone engineers, Cumbria-based Burlington, once again wooed visitors at Grand Designs Live at the NEC. Claimed by the company to be the perfect showcase for its expanding range of interior and exterior stones and products, Burlington this year made the most of its new square and strip tile mosaics. Indeed Grand Designs Live saw Burlington exhibit stone mosaics for the first time.

And having only recently introduced the latest must-have iPad application, Burlington vigorously promoted a platform that gives fingertip access to a myriad of useful information and over 300 images relating to what is a quintessentially British stone quarried from the heart of the English Lake District.

As Burlington Stone’s Sales & Marketing Director, Nick Williams comments: “We have made a habit of introducing exciting new natural stone products at Grand Designs and this time was no exception. We enjoyed hearing what visitors thought of the mosaics, and the feedback that we received was extremely encouraging. As with all of our natural stone products, which emanate from a truly and quintessentially British stone source that was laid down in the Lake District millions of years ago, their aesthetic properties are matched by the product’s performance technically.

He added: “We have taken great strides over the last two years to increase the awareness of Burlington Stone and its product offering to a wider but discerning public audience, and it appears to be paying dividends. We now have a greater and more relevant interior and exterior product offering and this is beginning to strike an accord for its relevance and suitability to today’s spectrum of interior design styles.”

An exciting new addition to Burlington’s wet room, bathroom and swimming pool product offering, the new range of natural stone square and strip tile mosaics represent the ultimate choice for the discerning. Suitable for use on walls, floors and as edge or feature detailing, the new mosaics can be supplied in range of single colours or mixed stones. In the former category are mosaic mats in honed blue/grey Kirkby, mid-green Broughton Moor and Baycliif Lord limestone.

For increased contrast, Burlington also launched three multi-mix square tile mosaics; one featuring its green stones, the second being produced using a combination blue/grey, silver and green natural stones, and the third which is a mix of its Baycliff Lord and Caulfeild limestones – the latter featuring both a honed and flamed finish. Not only are they suitable for use over expansive areas, they create a dramatic effect when used within interior schemes that feature wide format wall and floor tiles.

The strip tile mosaics, available in a similar colour combination to the square tile counterparts, feature a mix of 4”, 6” and 8” long x 1” wide pieces of natural stone. Available as 300mm x 300mm mats, the mosaics are quick and easy to install, and as with all of Burlington’s stone products they require very little maintenance. Whilst Burlington intends mosaics to form part of its off-the-shelf product offering, they are currently only available made to order.

Priding itself on developing sumptuous and leading-edge products manufactured using craftsmanship skills and the finest natural stone source in the world, Burlington is your guarantee when it comes to delivering a look and finish that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Fusing perfectly with today’s spectrum of interior design styles, Burlington’s unrivalled palette of all British natural stones, finishes and tile format serve to present a myriad of creative opportunities irrespective of space. From compact areas to whole room zones, Burlington’s stone represents the perfect solution for creating an oasis of tranquility.

Burlington’s continued attendance at Grand Designs Live serves to give design professionals, consumers and the media the chance to become acquainted with the ultimate in luxurious British natural stone products, engineered from one of the world’s richest sources of stone.

Prized by interior designers, architects, specifiers, developers and discerning homeowners the world over, Burlington Stone combines craftsmanship skills with environmentally sensitive extraction processes and modern production techniques to create a stunning product array shaped from Lakeland stone deposits laid down over 450 million years ago.

Burlington engineers products using stone that is sympathetically teased out of the ground from six quarries to offer a unique mix of five sumptuous stones - blue/grey, pale green, mid green, olive green and silver grey - together with two limestones, Caulfeild and Lord.

Adding to the romance of each stone’s rich colouring are contrasting veins and markings that emphasise its natural origin, whilst a range of smooth and textured finishes facilitate use in wet conditions.

Alongside the character and natural beauty inherent within Burlington’s stone, it is a material that is extremely practical, hard wearing and durable. Indeed natural stone is renowned for its outstanding technical properties, whilst being easy to clean and maintain.

All of the products featured at Grand Designs Live can also be seen at the company’s exquisite Stone Studio located at Cavendish House, Kirkby-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA17 7UN. Open Monday – Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm and Saturday from 10.00am to 3.00pm, the studio features an internal space that is adorned with an array of sumptuous and functional interior natural stone products, not to mention an exquisitely designed and intricately presented hard and soft landscaping area. The latter serves to welcome visitors to the stone studio, which is set against a stunning panoramic Lakeland fells backdrop.
