WYG appoints new Regional Director to strengthen transport team

International multi-disciplinary consultancy, WYG has appointed Andrew Maclaren as

Regional Director within in its transport division. Based at their new offices in Birmingham, Andrew will provide leadership to WYG’s existing activities whilst developing a long term sustainable and successful business, working closely with their Leicester transport team.

Andrew joins WYG from Atkins where he was Associate Director for land development and regeneration. Andrew has also worked for Halcrow, Gallagher’s, Crest Nicholson and Bovis Homes, where he was responsible for highly complex regeneration projects, through the planning system including urban extensions and new towns, to achieve the very best in sustainable urban regeneration solutions.

As an Associate Director at Atkins Limited, Andrew was responsible for the co-ordination of large, complex ‘greenfield’ and regeneration projects of which included:

  • West Expansion Area, Milton Keynes – 5,500 unit urban extension
  • Coed Darcy Urban Village, Llandarcy, Wales – 4,000 unit 20 year regeneration project
  • Former RAF Uxbridge – 1,350 unit mixed use regeneration project
  • Inglis Barracks, Mill Hill East – 1,425 unit mixed use regeneration project

At Halcrow Group Limited, where Andrew was Technical & Project Director, he was also responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of large, complex ‘greenfield’ and regeneration projects which included:

  • The Qatar Petroleum Complex Project, Lusail, City of Doha, Qatar - £1 billion new headquarters for Qatar Petroleum
  • Club Aliga, Hungary - 2,500,000m² of hotel, leisure, residential, retail and commercial development
  • Panama, Central America - Three separate master planning projects totalling 350 Hectares of development potential. 

Within his new role at WYG, Andrew will be working with fellow transport colleagues across the group to identify, develop and secure opportunities in the urban regeneration sector. His primary focus will be on transportation projects as part of successful regeneration outcomes.
