NASHVILLE, TENN. Oct. 15, 2010--The Iroquois Steeplechase, Nashville’s premier equestrian race and annual rite of spring, announced today the formation of The Iroquois Alliance.

The Iroquois Alliance’s mission will be to support the steeplechase by providing volunteers on race day and for all related events.  Additionally, alliance members will be responsible for providing information about the event and its benefits to the community.  Its members will serve as ambassadors for the Steeplechase and its benefits to the greater Nashville community.

“I feel confident that the outstanding group of individuals that form The Iroquois Alliance will use their respective talents to advance the goals of The Iroquois Steeplechase and provide invaluable assistance to this Nashville tradition,” said Dwight Hall, chairman.  “The Iroquois Alliance will also play an important role as we again work to benefit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.”

Deborah Lovett will serve as president of the Iroquois Alliance.  Lovett, an equestrian fan, also serves as chair of the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville, is an auction committee member for the Swan Ball and a committee chair of the Nashville Symphony Ball.

“I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to support an annual event that serves our community in such a rich and outstanding way, year after year,” said Lovett.

Additional members of the Iroquois Alliance include: Sylvia Bradbury, David Ewing, Laura Stockett Roberts, Carol and Frank Daniels, John and Lake Easkin, Clyde Russell, Jeff and Melinda Ballser, Dr. Jonathan Gitman, Ralph Schulz, Beth Alexander, Julie Gordon, Cathy Ralph and Donna Dalton.
