Brewery reaches the magical million - and pints are just £1
A MICRO-brewery which has won a legion of fans across the north west is celebrating reaching a magical milestone.
Stringers, which is owned by Lakeland Inns and based in the market town of Ulverston, Cumbria, has this week brewed its one millionth pint.
A special ale was commissioned as the landmark approached, and it will be on sale to trade from October 14 and to the public from October 22.
Pints will be just £1 at Lakeland Inns pubs while stocks last, while one lucky trade customer will get a free barrel, if they find it has a golden sticker.
Managing Director of Lakeland Inns, Kirsty Mackenzie, said: “So much has happened at Stringers since we acquired the business last year.
“We have invested a huge amount into new equipment, an expansion of the brewhouse, into marketing the business and growing its distribution network.
“We have a dedicated team working to ensure we can meet the growing demand for Stringers’ products, especially the gluten free beers which we struggle to meet demand for.
“We take extra care over every brew we make, but the batch which contained the millionth pint was extra special.”
The ale - fittingly called the Millionth Pint Brew - is a 3.9 per cent pale ale. Just 1,760 pints of it will find their way into pubs in the north west and beyond.
The special price is a way of the brewery celebrating the milestone, whilst thanking the thousands of real ale lovers who treat themselves to a pint of its beers every week.
Stringers is based on the Low Mill Business park in Ulverston. Last month, an expansion of the brewhouse was completed amid growing demand for the brewery’s wide range of ales.
The business was founded in 2008 by Jon Kyme and was acquired by Lakeland Inns last year. Jon remains a key part of the team in his role as head brewer.
He is supported by Office Manager, Barbara McMullan, Stuart Smith and apprentice Charlie Slater.
Together, their mission is to ensure the nation is never without a pint of Stringers’ varied brews.
The £1 pint offer launches on October 22 at The Sun Inn, Ulverston; The Black Cock, Broughton-in-Furness and The Commodore in Grange-Over-Sands. Each pub will have an allocation of Millionth Pint Brew and the promotions will be live until the pumps run dry.
