Golf buggy with a luxury twist arrives at top hotel - and happy couples are thrilled
New addition a real hit on wedding day
A GOLF buggy with a luxury twist has been rolled out at a top hotel - as bosses bid to add extra sparkle to wedding days.
The £20,000 machine was made to order in the UK before being delivered to the Abbey House Hotel and Gardens earlier this week.
It will be rolled out for wedding picture shoots and if happy couples wish to take a tour of the grounds ahead of their big day
The buggy, which comes complete with monogrammed luxury upholstery and built-in champagne bucket, will also be made available for guests who have mobility issues and wish to experience the Abbey House’s stunning gardens.
Hotel general manager, John Horton, said: “We are always looking for ways in which we can extend what the hotel offers to its guests.
“The new buggy has created a real buzz amongst the team and its versatility means it can be used for a number of purposes.
“It has already been used to take happy couples planning their wedding on tours of the hotel grounds, and it will also be on hand when their big day arrives.
“Importantly, the buggy opens up the hotel's wider gardens to guests who perhaps in the past have not had the opportunity to enjoy them in all their glory.
“Some of the pathways through our wooded areas are undulating which means they can be a little more challenging for some guests, but with prior arrangement, we will be delighted to roll the buggy out and take them on a tour.”
A specialist instructor was commissioned to deliver training to all staff in how to safely operate and drive the buggy.
The Abbey House Hotel and Gardens is one of Cumbria’s premier hotels and earlier this year was elevated in the highly competitive AA rankings after being labeled a ‘stand-out’ destination.
It had been a four-star venue since 2014, after £4m was invested in a major revamp. But for this first time this year, it achieved four-star silver standard, elevating it to a level which is within touching distance of coveted five-star status.
The hotel has also retained its AA Rosette for the food it serves in Oscar’s bar and restaurant. It is also an award-winning wedding venue and has been named best wedding venue in Cumbria on six occasions.
