Graham Packaging produces standard bottle mold in the UK to aid swine flu protection

YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, USA―Graham Packaging’s Chalgrove Plant in the United Kingdom has produced a new standard PET bottle mold for anti-bacterial gels and sprays aimed at companies tackling this winter’s public health risks.

In the face of the incidence of swine flu and other transmissible diseases, the “Catch It, Bin It, Kill It” campaign in the United Kingdom aims to disrupt the spread of disease. One way is for visitors to use anti-bacterial products whenever they enter public buildings or for consumers to use their own personal gel. Graham Packaging Company, L.P., has introduced a simple, flat-sided, 95ml oval container as a new standard mold. The PET bottle has a 20 SP410 neck finish to suit either a flip top or pump spray closure. In addition, the company has available a standard 500ml handwash bottle with a 28mm neck to a take a pump dispenser. Provision of a standard mold means pharmaceutical companies can bring their products to market in attractive bottles with no capital investment in bottle production. The Chalgrove plant has an available stock of the containers to reduce delivery times to a minimum. Neil Kerrod, sales manager at the Chalgrove Plant, said, “Companies, schools, hospitals and any location at which people congregate is a potential source of infection. We can now supply this market with a range of appropriate containers quickly and at minimal cost.”
