3M sponsors Wrap Cup Masters Series, provides high quality vinyl material with Union Jack design for patriotic MINI Countryman body wraps

Bracknell, UK, 25 June 2013 – Diversified technology company 3M is proud to announce its sponsorship of the FESPA Wrap Cup Masters Series Grand Final 2013 (www.fespa.com/wrapcup/), taking place this week at London’s ExCeL (25-29 June). The event will see the best wrappers from around the world come together to battle it out in front of a star studded line-up of car wrapping experts for the crown of FESPA Wrap Cup Masters Champion. 3M is supporting the Series for the first time and will be supplying all the graphic material for the event.

Over the course of the competition, Wrap Cup Masters Series Contenders will demonstrate their vinyl mastery by wrapping four MINI Countryman cars in a Union Jack design. A key criterion for all contestants is quality first, with speed coming into play when quality is even. The design will be applied panel by panel using premium vehicle wrapping films, Controltac Graphic Film IJ180 Cv3-10 and Scotchprint Car Wrap Film Series 1080 from 3M. Both are highly popular graphic and colour change films for vehicle wraps and bespoke printed liveries, offering a smarter and more cost-efficient alternative to a re-spray. Fully latex compatible, the printed films have no odour and no drying time, plus they are extremely conformable, making them easy to handle and quick to wrap.

“This is fantastic opportunity for car wrappers to demonstrate their skills and techniques using the finest quality graphic material that represents speed and performance – we’re delighted to be playing such a coveted role in the Series finale,” said Richard Davies, Trade Marketing Manager, 3M Commercial Graphics division. “3M has gained enormous traction in the vehicle wrapping market, especially with our NASCAR Wrap and Win campaign, Facebook promotional activity and sponsorship of Monster Energy events and Premier Sports free-view weekends. This is another great platform for us to demonstrate creative ways that private car owners, fleet operators and businesses can customise their vehicles, quickly and effectively, at relatively low cost compared to painting.”

FESPA Wrap Cup Masters Series 2013

The FESPA Wrap Cup Masters Series is a compilation of eight events over three years. Designed to encourage, recognise and promote excellence in the global vehicle wrapping community, this competition gives car wrappers the chance to hone their skills in a live competition atmosphere and gain global recognition as the best-of-the-best. The schedule for the London competition is as follows:

* Heat 1 – Qualifying Round – 25 June

To be one of four finalists that join the elite global wrappers from all previous FESPA Wrap Cup events in Heat 3, contestants must compete head-to-head in this qualifying tournament.

* Heat 2 – Cup of Nations – 26 and 27 June

The competition shifts up a gear and the Cup of Nations begins. This event will be for national teams of two wrappers, who will take part in one of the three group matches on 26 June. Those who leave others in smoke will have the honour of being in the semi-finals and final on 27 June.

* Heat 3 – Grand Finale – 29 June

All cylinders will be firing full blast during the Grand Finale of the FESPA Wrap Cup Series so that the world’s best car wrappers can lift their trophy high and win the title of Wrap Cup Master Series World Champion.
