3M Demos Collaborative Touch Table and Ultra-large Format Interactive Display at CeBIT 2013
Bracknell, UK, 21 February 2013 – Diversified technology company 3M will demonstrate its multi-touch expertise at CeBIT 2013 – The ICT industry's most international trade fair, 5-9 March, Hannover, Germany – by exhibiting innovative Projected Capacitive (PCAP), multi-touch concept table and interactive display configurations (Hall 15, Stand B16). Highlights include a 46-inch collaborative multi-touch table for brand experience and assisted-selling environments and a 55-inch multi-touch prototype display vertically mounted for ultra-large format product selector and customer interaction applications.
The new product concepts are ideal for brand owners and marketing teams in markets such as retail, hospitality and banking. Featuring an ultra-fast response time up to 60 simultaneous touches, both displays offer a smart phone and tablet-like user interface that customers are familiar with and have come to expect.
46-inch Multi-Touch Table
The new 46-inch Multi-Touch Display C4667PW chassis from 3M extends PCAP touch screen technology further into the mainstream of large format displays and offers new opportunities for designers and creative agencies. Its ultra-slim, lightweight and ruggedised, open frame design allows easy integration in to kiosks, enclosures or table top applications.
This high-definition 1080p LCD display features a wide 178-degree viewing angle (horizontal/vertical) and is capable of tracking 60 simultaneous touch events at less than 12 millisecond (ms) response speed with palm rejection. The display’s anti-stiction surface further enhances users' experience by enabling their fingers to glide effortlessly across the glass surface while maintaining positive contact with the screen. This high performance helps create a more natural interactive experience for users seeking an enlarged touch area and greatly extends the possibilities for up-close, multi-user collaborative applications.
The 32-inch Multi-Touch Display C3266PW chassis from 3M, which shares the same features as the 46-inch, will also be on the stand. The 32-inch display’s thin profile metal chassis housing is 2.6” (66.8 mm) deep with a 200mm VESA mounting pattern and offers a metal bezel for a finished appearance that can be removed for integration into flat front surface tables and walls.
55-inch Display Prototype
In addition, 3M will be exhibiting a 55-inch prototype display designed for ultra-large interactive applications. The PCAP display is capable of tracking 40 simultaneous touch events. At CeBIT it will be showcased vertically mounted to demonstrate its ability to capture and maintain the attention of target consumer audiences, both from a distance and close by for multi-user experiences. This feature can help improve messaging efficiency, especially in crowded public areas such as shopping centres, hotel lobbies and convention centres.
3M Touch Expertise
Leveraging 25 years of capacitive sensing expertise, 3M will also be demonstrating a fully-integrated, highly-scalable PCAP system solution designed for 15-inch to 32-inch multi-touch displays. The Multi-Touch System PCT2000PX from 3M combines proprietary touch screen manufacturing technology with the patented Multi-Touch Controller PX400 from 3M to overcome existing OEM design challenges in scaling PCT solutions beyond common mobile handheld device sizes (less than 11.6 inches). Typical applications include retail point-of-sale, point-of-information, gaming and amusement, AV, digital signage, medical and industrial.
Also on the stand will be 15-inch, 17-inch and 19-inch Dual-Touch Chassis Display models from 3M, specifically designed for kiosk and enclosure integration. Plus, visitors will see the popular 21.5-inch and 27-inch plug-and-play Multi-Touch Desktop Displays from 3M, offering brilliant high-definition graphics, wide viewing angles and elegant product design.
