Bracknell, UK, 30 April 2013 – e92plus has announced a distribution agreement with 3M, the diversified technology company, to distribute their range of Privacy Filters, which offer essential protection against data breaches in a simple and effective way.

The market for information and data security is growing, and the 3M Privacy Filter range provides a unique complement to the e92plus portfolio. The threat of data breaches are well known, continually growing and arrive at a significant cost: on average a bill of £1.9million(1). Yet research has shown that up to 96% of data breaches were avoidable(2). If they are that easy to avoid, how do they happen?

* 71% of Brits have admitted to shoulder-surfing whilst on public transport, in coffee shops and in shared places of work(3)

* 67% of working professionals had worked with some kind of sensitive data outside the office within the last year(4)

Traditional endpoint and DLP security solutions all focus on the latest advanced, modern threats yet many organisations forget that the user is the weakest link – and that includes potentially exposing their information through very simple, everyday tasks.

3M Privacy Filters are a fast, affordable solution that will help protect data instantly, whichever electronic device is being used. Privacy Filters feature patented micro-louvre technology that blocks the view of a screen to everyone but the user sitting directly in front of it. Made from flexible, hard-wearing film, they're designed to fit easily on any LCD monitor, laptop or smartphone/tablet. The range includes advanced filters that offer greater clarity and protection. They can even be an essential part of compliance strategies, such as conforming to the ISO27001 Information Security Management System Standard.

Mukesh Gupta, Managing Director at e92plus, comments that, “The distribution agreement with 3M is an excellent complement to our existing product range. The opportunity for resellers is for a simple up-sell on solutions from endpoint security to traditional laptop or mobile device projects, and can be a key part of compliance strategies for end-users. The potential of the market is enormous, and is a great way for partners to increase their order values and margins.”

“This is a great new opportunity and we’re looking forward to working with the experienced e92plus team to help us reach new customers in the growing security market,” said Nick Barnes, Regional Sales & Marketing Manager at 3M Speciality Display & Projection Division. “Our mutually beneficial distribution agreement will help in advancing and educating the IT security markets about the current issues associated with visual privacy and the benefits of introducing a simple solution such as a privacy filter. e92plus will provide us with a targeted and proactive distribution route to the IT security market to promote the variety of security solutions available, in line with our visual privacy security proposition. They understand our products and are taking them to the right people at the right time.”
