New Argon simulation systems for Irish Defence Forces
Argon Electronics, the leading manufacturer of industry-leading CBRN simulation instruments and software, has delivered an advanced CBRN simulation system to the Irish Defence Forces.
Designed to provide a comprehensive CBRN exercise capability, the new order included Argon’s PlumeSIM system, with military and civil radiological simulators for the RDS100-SIM Beta/Gamma and Alpha simulation probes, plus the RDS200 survey simulator, GPM11-SIM simulator probes and EPD-Mk2-SIM dosimeter simulators, to permit comprehensive radiological survey, contamination and dosimetry training. The order also included a number of Argon’s new LCD3.3-SIM chemical warfare detector simulators.
The Argon systems are being deployed at a number of locations and will be used to train both military CBRN teams and also civil first responders during joint and individual exercises. A spokesman for the Irish Defence Forces explained, "We purchased the systems from Argon because they will enable the Irish Defence forces to implement live agent training without the need to use live agents or radiological sources".
Steven Pike, Managing Director of Argon Electronics adds, “We were delighted to receive this contract, which once again demonstrates the important role our simulation technology plays in creating realistic, environmentally friendly and cost effective CBRN training exercises. The Irish Defence Forces are the first customer to receive our new RDS100-SIM simulation radiological probes and LCD3.3-SIM chemical warfare simulator. We therefore worked closely together, and with CBRN detector manufacturers, to ensure that we developed a dedicated simulation solution that met the exact training requirements of the Irish Defence Forces”.
Argon’s latest RDS100-SIM and LCD3.3-SIM devices, in common with all Argon’s simulation equipment, are designed to replicate exactly the real life instrumentation familiar to military, civil defence and first responders. Used in conjunction with the company’s sophisticated simulation software and analytics tools, these instruments provide comprehensive feedback in real time to both student and instructors. This allows training exercises to be completed safely and efficiently, developing the skills of personnel, while providing valuable data that can be used to refine subsequent training and simulation programmes still further.
