Devon businesses get the chance to shine at the new Devon Tourism Awards 2010
Devon’s leading tourism businesses are being invited to take part in the new Devon Tourism Awards 2010 which are being launched by Visit Devon this week. The awards celebrate the cream of the Devon tourism industry and will help to promote and raise the profile of the county’s high achieving tourism providers. There are six competition categories; Attraction of the Year, Hotel of the Year, Holiday Park and Village of the Year, B and B of the Year, Self Catering and Serviced Apartment as well as an award for Sustainable Tourism. The best business will then be selected from the six categories for the prestigious Winner of Winners Award. Successful businesses in the Devon Awards will then be fast-tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in November 2010/ and then possibly on to the National EnjoyEngland Awards in the Spring of next year. The new Devon Awards will give local businesses the opportunity to gain further recognition both in the media and the local community for their excellent facilities and exemplary customer service. The closing date for entries is the 16th of June 2010 and application forms can be downloaded from the Visit Devon: www.visitdevon.co.uk/devonawards . The General Manager of Visit Devon, Rosie Bates says the new Devon Awards will showcase the best of Devon tourism talent; “We are immensely proud of the high standard and quality of service that we provide for visitors to Devon. The awards will provide a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to tell the world about what they do, and to reward staff for all their hard work throughout the year.” A short list of entrants will be compiled which will then be visited by a mystery shopper to report to a final judging panel in August.
