Rent a tree this Christmas – and make it one of the family

A South West company has come up with the solution to the annual problem of buying and then disposing of a “real” Christmas tree: rent a beautiful living pot grown tree from Trees for Rent instead! The original Dorset based Trees for Rent delivers a tree that can either be chosen by you at its Charminster premises or selected via www.treesforrent.com for your home or business. The company will then collect the tree after Christmas. Better still, you can make the tree a regular member of your Christmas festivities by renting the same tree again the following year, safe in the knowledge that it will have received loving care and attention over the intervening months. Owners of Trees for Rent, Peter and Jo, emphasise their business is green in more ways than one, Peter says: “We believe that cutting a tree for the Christmas period is not only a waste of a beautiful product that does so much good for the environment, but also a waste of resources. All our trees on site have a purpose and we even use the trimmings from the trees to make our Christmas wreaths. “When the trees are too large to be rented out, they will either be planted on our land or offered to businesses to improve their landscape and help neutralise their carbon emissions. Because the trees are pot grown from day one, the trees have a very high success rate of being transplanted unlike any other Christmas tree.” After experimenting last year to find out which tree customers preferred, Trees for Rent has selected the beautiful Fraser Fir for Christmas 2009. The tree has soft, wide dark green needles and is conical in shape ensuring it looks stunning and suits all situations. Peter says, “It is recognised as having excellent needle retaining properties. As with all living things, the tree requires its daily water, but otherwise these trees seem to be able to survive pretty much anything that is thrown at them!” At Trees for Rent, the Fraser Fir is available in two different sizes which include the pots. The sizes are: 5' 6" - 6'4" with prices starting from £45 (excluding delivery and collection), and 6' 4" - 7'4" with prices starting at £55. For anyone who really doesn’t have room for a full size tree, the potted Norway Spruce Mini Tree is available in sizes from 14” to 18” starting at £15. They have all the same qualities as the full size tree, but look fabulous on either a desktop or tabletop position. The mini tree comes fully decorated with its own set of led battery lights (batteries not included) in a choice of red or clear. Trees for Rent also offers a selection of handmade wreaths to decorate your doorway. The wreaths use the trimmings from the trees and holly from the Dorset farm together with naturally dried products for decoration. They come with a set of LED battery lights in either red or clear, giving a gentle glow to the wreath at night. With consideration for the environment as one of its mantras, Trees for Rent urges all its customers to use LED lights on their tree. The company stocks a range of them in its onsite Christmas shop together with a selection of other Christmas decorations. They point out that LED lights are not only less damaging to the tree as they run cooler than conventional lights and therefore pose less of a fire risk. The lights are also more cost effective to use. Research in America concluded that if every person used LED lights over the Christmas period, it would save $160,000,000 of electricity!
