SW retailer chooses Southern First Aid Training for a personal service that matches its own philosophy

When locally based Wincanton retailer, Myakka, was looking for a trainer who could provide a course tailor made for the demands of a business that requires the frequent lifting of heavy handmade furniture, the choice was obvious. Southern First Aid Training, based in Sherborne, came to the rescue with a course on Manual Handling that took in the needs of a small company wishing to take a look at all its handling systems, ensuring that all staff has the knowledge required to follow health and safety procedures whenever products need moving. Co-founder of Myakka Simon Whitehead said, “As well as the Manual Handling course, we have also asked Southern First Aid Training to run another First Aid course, having already run one for us last year. I really like the company’s approach, the way Philip Hall, the trainer, engages with the participants, encouraging them to act out scenarios and practise with the resuscitation dummies.” He continues, “We are a small company with a team of 11, but I feel that it is important that everyone benefits from these courses as they offer useful skills that everyone can take on both in the work place and outside work. Best of all, the course mirrored Myakka’s own philosophy, providing a really personal service, tailored to meet Myakka’s needs and it was very ‘hands on’.” Southern First Aid Training runs a series of training programmes tailored to fit the needs of each type of business whether it is a major corporate, a family run pub or a Sports Club. As well as the Manual Handling course, it provides the full range of HSE approved First Aid courses which have been taken up by local businesses and schools. In addition the company also runs specialist paediatric courses for early year providers such as nurseries, playgroups and childminders. Philip from Southern First Aid Training talks enthusiastically about a new series of ‘Open’ courses being held in Yeovil. He says “from October through to December we are running a number of Emergency First Aid at Work and the FAW Requalification courses. These courses are being held at the popular Manor Hotel – a central and convenient location for local businesses”. Local retailer chooses Southern First Aid Training for a personal service to match its own philosophy On offer from Southern First Aid Training is a “hands on” approach that encourages attendees to practise newly learned skills during the course. This is combined with a very flexible approach to training times that can be based around the needs of each business and its working patterns. Philip comments, “We are experienced in running various types of courses. What sets us apart from other providers is our willingness to adapt programmes to suit you and your business, making sure that you are prepared to give prompt first aid if it is required – and giving you the knowledge that may one day save a life.” For further information on the change in HSE legislations and how they may affect you and your business, visit our website: www.southernfirstaidtraining.co.uk or call us for free advice on 01935 389868.
