A-ROSA guests support charitable causes
New Year’s Raffle raises over 10,000 euros for social initiatives
Rostock, 23 January 2025 – The New Year’s Raffle held on board the A-ROSA fleet at the turn of the year raised a total of 10,600 euros, which the A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH is donating to three social projects in the Rostock region. The Rostock Homeless Aid Association, the Rahe Family Foundation and the Rostock Animal Welfare Association with its animal shelter in Rostock-Schlage can each look forward to a donation of more than 3,500 euros.
A-ROSA CEO Jörg Eichler personally handed over the cheque for the Rostock Animal Welfare Association to Regina Groß, head of the Rostock-Schlage animal shelter. “Especially now, when the days are shorter and the nights are colder, the animals need our support: young hedgehogs that can only survive the winter with our help, orphaned kittens and our dogs in their kennels. Which is why we are currently remodelling one of our dog houses and installing a heating system. This donation will be used to complete a house for small animals that is currently under construction. The house will later be home to birds, wild animals, rabbits and guinea pigs. In addition, an aviary will be installed in the outdoor area”, explains Groß. The members of the Rostock Animal Welfare Association have been committed to the wellbeing of animals long before the organisation was officially founded in 1990 and have been engaged in important work ever since, including education, prevention and monitoring of associated matters. At the Rostock-Schlage animal shelter, animals in need are provided accommodation, care and medical treatment until they find a new home.
“We were once again thrilled by the generous participation of our guests in the annual New Year’s Raffle. Their generosity and the organisational skills of our colleagues allow us to support important social causes in Rostock, the home port of A-ROSA. Social commitment is very important to us and our guests – and together we can make a real difference,” comments Jörg Eichler, expressing his thanks for the enthusiastic participation in and successful organisation of the raffle.
In keeping with tradition, guests on board the A-ROSA New Year’s Eve cruises had the opportunity to participate in the New Year’s Raffle, with all proceeds being donated to charitable projects. By buying a €5 raffle ticket, guests had the chance to win an A-ROSA sailing as well as other travel vouchers and exclusive prizes.
