AAK establishes Joint Venture with Enzymotec, an Israeli development company with focus on advanced lipids

AAK Sweden has finalized the negotiation of a Joint Venture (50/50) with Enzymotec, an Israeli development company of Biofunctional and Nutraceutical Ingredients. The establishment of the new company “Advanced Lipids” will considerably extend AAK’s business in the infant food business sector globally.

- With the Joint Venture we form a Swedish speciality fat company based on Enzymotecs advanced and unique research and AAK’s international strength within development, production and marketing of speciality fats. The cooperation with Enzymotec will further strengthening our market position in the infant food business segment, says Håkan Christensson, President of business area Food Ingredients Continental Europe.

- We strive for a growing proportion of speciality products and with attractive margins. A vital step in this direction is the establishment of the new company “Advanced Lipids” says Jerker Hartwall, President and CEO of AAK Group. This corporation will generate profit from 2008.

As announced in the year-end report, Capacity extension for speciality fats at the Karlshamn site for Baby food has been decided. AAK is one of world’s the leading suppliers in this segment.
