AAK's first overview of the incident in Denmark

Report this content

After the tragic incident in the Danish factory in Aarhus, AAK is now working full speed in order to create an overview of the damages.

- We now have got access to the affected buildings and equipment. Together with the authorities in charge, we have agreed on a process for identifying the cause of the incident and what is necessary before restarting the production, says Jørgen Balle, Managing Director of AarhusKarlshamn Denmark and President of AAK’s business area Chocolate & Confectionery Fats.

Many production areas have not been affected. Some production areas next to the affected building are still closed down for security reasons, but are expected to start up as soon as possible after an approval has been given by the authorities.

The new fractionation plant, which is in the testing phase, and the raw material stock have not been affected.

- So far, we have stocks available of many of our products, but it becomes more evident that the damages will result in delivery delays and the inability to deliver certain product categories. With the information we have so far, January and February seem to become difficult months.

The insurance aspects are under investigation.

More information will be distributed when we have a better overview of the damages.
