AB Vista is reinforcing the importance of forage analysis at this year’s Royal Ulster Winter Fair, and conducting a survey to investigate the extent to which such analysis is considered important in the dairy industry.

Dr Derek Mcllmoyle, AB Vista’s GB & Ireland Technical Director, says that regularly analysing forage tracks how the nutrient content of feed changes over time, which is important for maximising feed efficiency and cost-effective ration formulation.

“Feed efficiency needs to be top of people’s minds – particularly with current pressures such as low milk prices,” he adds. “Regular sampling and analysis of silage is key to feeding livestock the most cost-effective ration.”

Visitors to the Royal Ulster Winter Fair are encouraged to take part in the electronic survey, which will be available at the AB Vista stand (Pavilion 1, Stand 108).

“By launching this survey, AB Vista also hopes to discover the level of understanding of the impact of forage quality variation,” adds Dr Mcllmoyle.

All completed surveys will be entered into a prize draw and have the chance to win a luxury Fortnum & Mason hamper.
